Honeymoon in Thailand & Malaysia

In Bangkok, we went to Wat Pho because it was still open when we got there. This reclining Buddha's head is 15m tall.

The whole Buddha statue is 42m long.

The soles of his feet are decorated with inlaid mother-of-pearl.

Here's a closeup of the intricate mother-of-pearl designs. Each one of the rectangles is about 10 inches long.

The walls in the Buddha's building were all decorated with murals like this.

You can see the decorated ceiling above this mural.

After leaving the building that housed the Buddha, we walked around the temple grounds a bit and saw lots of these tile-covered pagodas.

Several of these were 10-12m tall and all were covered in decorative flowers made from tile.

Here's a closeup of the flower mosaics.

This shows how the pagodas were completely covered in mosaics.

We liked this bouquet of tile flowers atop an archway.

Later in the evening we went to the night market. Tons of souveniers as well as bootlegged CDs and DVDs were on display. Along the sides of this street were a multitude of bars featuring "exotic" entertainment. We bought Lost season 3 (which won't be available in the US for 6 months) for about $11.
